Ingredients:

Makhana - 2.5 Cups
Ghee - 2 tbsp 
Full Fat Milk - 1 Lit
Sugar - 1/4 cup
Cashew Nuts Slivered - 1/4 cup 
Almonds Slivered - 1/4 cup
Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp 

For Garnish:

1 tsp Pistachio Slivers
10-12 strands Saffron

Makhana Kheer Recipe: Step-by-step method

  1. First, take a pan and heat ghee on low flame.

  2. Now, add the cashews, almonds, and makhana to the pan and roast till they turn golden in color.

  3. Then, keep them aside.

  4. Take a deep-bottomed pan and add milk to it and boil.

  5. After that, reserve 1/4th of the roasted almonds, cashews, and makhana and add the remaining to the blender jar.

  6. Now, grind them until they are powdered.

  7. In the meantime, add cardamom powder, saffron, sugar, and makhana powder.

  8. Then, stir all the ingredients for one minute.

  9. Add the remaining makhana and dry fruit mixture to the pan and mix.

  10. Keep stirring in between for 10 minutes till the makhana becomes soft.

  11. After that, let it simmer for few minutes.

  12. And your makhana kheer is ready.

  13. Garnish it with pistachio slivers & saffron and serve.

Recipe Notes:

  • You can keep roasted makhana ready and keep in an air tight container.

  • Keep stirring the kheer while cooking.

  • Adjust the sugar according to your taste.
